My usual pre-call grousings again, so hold on to your seats while I get this done. But seriously. Spent some (very depressing) time wondering if I really want to spend the next 5 years living like this. If only they decided to keep up with the rest of the developed world - by working in shifts instead, and adding a working time cap. But no - being the Chinese at heart as we are, every bit of usable juice MUST be squeezed out of your employees, at the least amount of expense possible. Tried getting extra sleep last night, but it really didn't work out - still woke at odd hours (twice last night) and couldn't get back to sleep. I KNOW I'm not deprived of sleep today, but it would have been nice to keep an hour or two of extras under my belt, in preparation for the massacre tonight. But I'm so grateful, nonetheless. I have company this morning at least, and I know that I can always SMS my friends and feel like there's still a life out there. Pretty excited about the prospects of going on a trip soon actually, but at the same time, the time factor - I'm going to try and see what I can do about it, but as of now, hopes are pretty dim.

Some pictures to spice up the blog:

Yx and I had some REALLY rigorous Shim-Sham training yesterday (and I was told I got increasingly grouchy) and treated ourselves to some shopping at Raffles City. Lunch was pretty ok - nice presentation of the soft-shelled crab in a glass!

Oooooh, and Yx discovered that the Jason's Marketplace there sold Haggis!!! We bought one and she painstakingly cooked it for an hour. As the rhyme goes:

The Haggis is a funny Beast
To make it, strong men toil
But in cooking, it is delicate
NEVER should it boil.

It'll sit at "sub-boiling"
For the best part of a day
Until the time arrives at last
To carry it on a tray.

Brought back so many memories of nearly 1.5 years ago, when life was still good. Of course, Brownie ate his fair share of Haggis as well. Yay!! The next time I'm at Jasons, I'll buy several of them to stock up in the freezer. Now, if only they sold black pudding as well ...

Lychee mojito from Yx's recipe - still one of the best lazy-weekend drinks ever! It's a bitch to make, though.

Tom-yam that we cooked last weekend. Reminds me of YX's room-mates in Madison, who slurped the stuff down despite suffering from gastritis. =) Once again, feeling nostalgic.

Last night's BBQ:

Tuesday night, before dance practice - amusing sight, a crane parked in front of a church, with the sign "Reserved For Pastor" in front.

YX in a massage chair before our Saturday practice.

Last, but not least, some of the Triops. They are 1 week old now, and about 2cm long from head to end of tail. I gave one to my sis XW, hehe ... YX resolutely refused to adopt one!
