2 of them hatched, and one's slightly bigger, about 1.5mm in length (the other's 1mm only). Oh, and we made a most interesting observation too - the eggs actually vibrate before they hatch! Took a video of that happening, shall post it up soon - we'll see if we get any more babies tomorrow.
In the meantime, here's a pic of one of them:
See that white speck beneath the teabag? It's a baby triops! They swim around in a jerky motion, not unlike Artemia nauplii (or sea monkeys)
And now, for the video of the 1-day-old babies:
Update: There are 5 babies now!! Not too bad huh, considering I only put in about 20+ eggs.
We actually watched 1 of them hatching out from its egg, and took a 5-minute video - the file size, when compressed, is still way too large to upload quickly, so maybe when I have more time to do that. In the meantime, here's the video of the quivering egg I was talking about - see that white speck shaking about?
And finally for today's diary entry, a closeup video of one of the first Triops to hatch out - it looks really different from the newly-hatched ones, so I'm guessing it moulted and grew in the space of 6 hours. Yikes ..
