Rough Patch in Life

You might start noticing that my blog's full of sad stories, and lousy times. Indeed, I find that to be true. But life's not always like that. I'm happy to say that most of the time, things go smoothly, and I enjoy my presence in this world immensely. Those, unfortunately, tend to be the times that I do not blog about. This blog is like a pensieve, somewhere to deposit these ill thoughts so that I may vent them out without frustrating someone else, so that I can take a step back and look at problems subjectively, sans emotions.

Going through pretty bad times now. No, not as bad as that horrible episode in Nov/Dec 08, but once again involving something difficult to put into words. It's a sensation of extreme fatigue, plus other emotions. Shit always comes, it's true. Many times, I can deal with them as they come. Sometimes, these things need the wondrous effects of time to dilute out. And that's when the trouble starts. I can't deal with them immediately, and they start to backlog. Like in Tetris, when half your screen's full, and you can't quite get rid of the new tiles coming down fast enough, let alone clear the old ones. And the more they pile, the less space you have to maneuver - to the point where you just want to press the Down button, end the game, and start all over again.

A little of it has smoothed over. Something hard to go through tomorrow morning.

Anyway, Yx and I finally got her dress design down! At least something got done this weekend.

These 2 weeks are going to be crazy, I have activities on after work on almost every single day. =( Calls, meetings, and other stuff. CNY is finally over, and it marks the start of preparations proper for November. Things really should be made super easy but alas, they are not. I have yet to come up with that huge mindmap I wanted to make, to chart out every single thing that needs attention in life. I might just faint with fear if I did that. It's probably mid-life crisis come early, but just the other day I was telling Yx that life's too short to do a lot of things. I want to be a lot of things. I'd like to be a blues singer in some dinky bar; a traveling botanist; maybe dance competitively. Gah. I'm stuck now, anyway.

Happy CNY! It's a strange year where CNY lands smack on Valentine's Day - I'm guessing the restaurants and hotels are licking their wounds this year, from the merger of 2 of the most lucrative days in the year. Florists too - to spend CNY with their family, or to do their annual $15-a-rose ripoff? Anyway, it's the last year we're receiving ang paos! Not that it matters, but the thought of dishing out red packets next year is very strange. Maybe I'll make things hard for people, like give out decent amounts of money but in foreign currency. Yes, that makes a neat trick.

For the first time in a couple of years, I was actually able to visit my grandma in Malaysia for her birthday on CNY as well. Last year it was work, and the year before it was the MBBS or something like that. It's very odd seeing people that are related to me but I only half know of (or 5%, more like), and seeing young cousins all grown up. I also met up with Phillip, a Brit living in a hut in my grandma's plantation. We know about one another through my parents, but we've never really met until this year. He's a photographer by profession, and a freaking good one too - you really couldn't tell by his looks and his rudimentary equipment. Had a great chat about life in general over 4 bottles of his home-brewed beer (Brits ...) and learnt a lot, a hell lot, in those few short hours. It really makes one think, and it's been AGES since I've met anyone who actually can instigate that in me anymore. It's been a fruitful trip.

Argh I really hate CNY festivities and visiting. It's a huge PITA, and time's never enough. I want the holidays to do stuff at home, not make forced talk with people who are just way too UNinteresting. Just checked on the Sarracenia which have been in the fridge for the last 2 months, and 2 of them are now coming out of dormancy. Crap. Need to pot them up within this week.

Still more repotting to do, after a couple of weekends' worth of work! Setting up a new sheltered area on the balcony, and I've got a few plants there to test out whether the plants will grow nicely - a flytrap, couple of sundews, and a butterwort. Also procured myself an exceedingly rare plant yesterday (Nepenthes clipeata) and praying that I don't kill it.

Feeling increasingly vexed over the new place.
